You can’t intellectualize a physiological shock response. DBR works beneath cognitive processing to clear trauma where it originates.
Most trauma therapies, even advanced somatic ones like Brainspotting, work with feelings, visual focus, or emotional processing in the midbrain and cortex. Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR) goes deeper.
DBR targets the midbrain, the exact area that registers threat milliseconds before your brain forms a feeling, thought, or story about what is happening.
When you experience shock or chronic trauma, your brainstem triggers an immediate tension which is quickly followed by an emotional or survival response. DBR tracks that original sequence so your nervous system can finally drop the alarm.
Your body can react before your brain has the full story. Talk therapy might not reach these areas, and some clients find benefits in adding body-based interventions.
When something heavy hits you, your body flinches before your mind even registers what happened.
That sudden wave of panic, a burst of rage, or a sinking feeling before you even realize what is going on—your body can react before your brain has a complete explanation.
Deep Brain Reorienting brings focused attention to body-based responses connected to shock, surprise, and overwhelming experiences.
We do not need to force a detailed narrative or dig for memories. We can explore what is happening in the present and see whether this approach fits the work you are trying to do.
It is raw, physical, and not particularly interested in polished clinical language. No storytelling required. We don't need the narrative to heal the shock wave keeping you on high alert. It works without making you relive the script of your past.
No clinical fluff. No endless storytelling. Let's develop new ways of relating to body-based responses connected to trauma.
Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR)
Neurobiological sequence of shock & orienting tension.
Midbrain / Brainstem.
Deep attachment trauma, sudden shock, chronic physiological overwhelm, hyper-reactivity
Brainspotting (BSP)
Eye-position access to somatic memory & subcortical processing.
Subcortical Brain.
Performance blocks, generalized anxiety, complex trauma, emotional integration
We don't need to overthink it right now. Let's work together during your nervous system mapping and intake session to determine which entry point your nervous system actually needs.
Stop talking in circles and constantly reliving your trauma. Let's work directly in your brainstem with the sequence that keeps your body on alert.
